At Untamed Borders we recommend applying for visas with a professional visa service who can guide you though the process and take care of lodging and collecting your passport with multiple embassies, so we have teamed up with The Visa Machine. They live and breathe visas and have the expertise to provide current and accurate information and arrange the correct visas for your trip, quickly and at a good price.

In many countries, without a visa you'll simply be turned away at the border or at check-in for your flight. The cheapest way to get a visa is to deal directly with the embassy of the country you need a visa for. However this can be a confusing and complicated process, with obscure questions on application forms, limited help from embassy officials, long waits while your passport is being processed and time consuming trips to embassies. The Visa Machine handle every aspect of your visa application, leaving you time to enjoy planning the rest of your trip.

Many visas/eVisas are valid for 3 months from the date of issue (see the section on visa validity!). If you will still be entering within that validity window, you don’t need to change the visa. You can find the validity date printed on the visa/eVisa and in the ‘Important Info’ section for each visa before you even apply.

For several other visas/eVisas, there are specific dates of entry and exit printed on the visa. For example, the visa for Russia is locked to the dates of your trip. If your entry date is the 1st of October, you can enter anytime on or after that date. If your exit date is the 21st of October, then you must exit the country by that date.

Visas cannot be amended so if your travel dates change and your visa expires, you’ll have to apply for another visa. Embassies don’t offer refunds for any reason, so it’s important that you’re confident of your travel dates before you apply!

If the visa hasn’t been applied for yet, it’s usually possible to amend the dates on your application form. Just let us know as soon as possible.
