At Untamed Borders we recommend applying for visas with a professional visa service who can guide you though the process and take care of lodging and collecting your passport with multiple embassies, so we have teamed up with The Visa Machine. They live and breathe visas and have the expertise to provide current and accurate information and arrange the correct visas for your trip, quickly and at a good price.

In many countries, without a visa you'll simply be turned away at the border or at check-in for your flight. The cheapest way to get a visa is to deal directly with the embassy of the country you need a visa for. However this can be a confusing and complicated process, with obscure questions on application forms, limited help from embassy officials, long waits while your passport is being processed and time consuming trips to embassies. The Visa Machine handle every aspect of your visa application, leaving you time to enjoy planning the rest of your trip.

The visa validity is the window of time you have to enter the country before your visa can no longer be used, whereas the duration is how long you may stay in the country once you’ve entered.

Generally, visas are valid for 3 months from the date of issue. The expiry date of the visa will be printed on it whether it’s a visa stuck in your passport, or an eVisa. You must enter the country before the expiry date, or you’ll need to get a new visa.

The duration of stay is the amount of days/months/years that you can stay in a particular country once you have entered with a valid visa. For example, a 30 day visa will allow you to stay in the country for 30 days, even if you arrive on the day your visa expires (not that we recommend this!).

It’s important to note the difference between validity and duration of stay. Your visa may be valid for 3 months, but this doesn’t mean that you can stay for 3 months. The duration of stay and number of entries you can make depends on which visa you apply for.
